Recipes for the Soul + Body

As we transition into cooler weather, it's comforting to indulge in immune boosting and hearty recipes to fuel the mind, mind and soul. Below find recipes from herbalist and Suu Kuu founder Erika Hanson and our friend Maggie Mattuchio Flynn that'll keep you warm and help you sleep.

Barley and cardamom peaches
1/2 cup pearled barley
2 1/2 cups water
2-3 peaches sliced
2 tsp ghee
vanilla
1/2 cup coconut milk
dash of cardamom
dash of cinnamon
dash of ginger
The Giving Tree CBD 

 

Cook barley with water for 25-30 minutes or until barley is soft. Heat ghee in a pan over low heat then add peaches, cardamom, cinnamon and ginger to taste. Saute until slightly browned. Blend cooked barley, a splash of vanilla, coconut milk and The Giving Tree in an immersion blender. (add water as needed) Portion out two bowls of creamed barley and top with peaches!

1 cup unsweetened nut milk (oat or almond)
½ teaspoon ground organic cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground organic turmeric
2 pinches of ground organic cardamom
Pinch of ground organic ginger (optional)
Pinch of ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon Nutiva Organic Virgin Coconut Oil (this is my favorite – you can substitute your favorite)
1 teaspoon Activist 850+ raw manuka honey
3ml (about 60 drops) of Gryph + IvyRose Call it a Night herbal supplement Combine milk, cinnamon, turmeric, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg in a sauce pan and bring to a simmer over medium heat stirring in coconut oil with a whisk. Prior to boiling, remove from heat and whisk in honey and Gryph & IvyRose call it a night nightcap. Let sit for a minute and pour into your favorite mug. Make sure you drink it while it’s still warm and get ready for dreamland.
